Pastor J. Alfaro is a Houston native who accepted the Lord following his high school graduation at his home church, ElTabernaculo A/G. Soon after his conversion, he began his studies at Latin American Bible Institute, located in San Antonio, Texas, where he received his diploma in Pastoral Ministries, graduating as Salutatorian of his class. Upon graduation he continued his education at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of
Science in Pastoral Ministries and later his Master of Science in Practical Theology.
For the past ten years, Pastor Alfaro has served as an Evangelist, Educator, Pastor, and
Collegiate Dean of Instruction ministering in various local, sectional and district venues
such as outreaches, conventions, conferences, and revivals. His experience extends on a national level across various areas of the United States, particularly the states of Texas and New York. Pastor Alfaro is a Licensed Minister with the Assemblies of God. He is President of the “No More Dead Lions” Men’s Fellowship and Men’s Conference and the Founder and President of J.A.M. Ministries, an evangelistic ministry. On March 14, 2010, Pastor J. Alfaro returned to his spiritual roots to reside as the Senior Pastor of El Tabernaculo A/G, a bilingual, multigenerational, and culturally diverse Spirit-empowered church. He and his wife Melissa, have been married for 9 years. |

During her time at T.W.U. she was awarded the Edgar Dean LiteraryEndowment for her excellence in academics and for her exposition on a piece of literature. Her Masters degree was awarded to her after successful completion of her thesis entitled, The Oppression and Deliverance of Women.in Sandra Cisneros’ The House on Mango Street. Her thesis focuses on the treatment of women in various ethnic communities and discusses the cultural constraints that hinder women from reaching their full potential. She is currently completing her Phd in Rhetoric at Texas Woman’s University. In 2008, Pastor Melissa published her first book, The Day the Princess Cried: The Diaries of the Biblical Princess of Lamentations and has been a contributing author of Nuestra Gente, a magazine directed to the Latin community in the Houston area.
In collaboration with public school districts, she has also initiated mentoring leadership programs for at-risk teens. Pastor Melissa has served as an Educator, Evangelist, Writer, Pastor and is the
Founder of J.A.M. Ministries’ Annual Princess Conference, a venue for mentoring young ladies spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Pastor Melissa currently serves alongside her husband, Pastor J. Alfaro, as the Senior Pastors of El Tabernaculo A/G in Houston, Texas. She is also the TLHD Girls Ministries Director.
